White Tile and Mirrors

White Tile and Mirrors

In the bathroom
uncloaked and vulnerable
My olive white naked skin
Flaws on my cold breasts
I cut my hair with spare scissors
Now jagged beneath my rosy chin;
Attempting to reclaim my body.

I knew no essence
Until I met emptiness

I stand to face my monster
in the mirror
alone.

To the dirt of this earth I am none
My bones clamped between
Adamic clay and rahm

I knew no essence
Until I met emptiness

rahm – Arabic: many definitions; forgiving, mercy, soul
