Ṣalawāt at Dawn

At dawn I woke to a collective voice which grew.

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa Ali Muhammad.

It came from within.
And there was something which felt like a lonesome flower in my heart. The first petal was coming through, inching its first hope outward. My eyes cracked open and I heard it again. But now that flower asked for the nourishment of water. And my heart cried through my eyes, giving to an endless beauty.

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa Ali Muhammad.

Again.

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa Ali Muhammad.

This was a tremendous feeling; I felt protective, a flourish of love — all in the sense of the collective.

Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa Ali Muhammad.

Again. For emphasis.

There are people who allowed me to see the true beauty in protecting the divine without shame or regret. These are the protectors of the protectors of the Message.

In full bloom, I let out a war cry. Now my prayer can be more intimate. Now I can see where I am going.

–Blessings from mine to yours.
